Essays 1& 2

Domy Reiter- Soffe's Essays 1&2 Staged by the Bat Dor Dance Company is a depature from the dramatic style for which this Israeli choreographer is Internationally known. Although it is emotionally intense it has no theme other than the strong lyrical element provided directly by the music of Samuel Barber's Essays for Orchestra No 1 opus 12 and No. 2 opus 17.

The rich sonorities of sound and movement were beautifully interwoven with the romantic pulse of three couples moving speciously.

Dancers Lea Lichtenstein, Sam Mc Mannus, Helen Redlington, Phillip Clyde, Emy Edelstein and Jonathan Avni danced with conviction and technical ability and never lost their linkage. The performance was like a flame that exuded throughout and eventually transmitted to the audience beauty and Love. The sextet stood out in this work.
